El Saladero (salting room): this was one of the most important rooms in Cortijo Las Monjas because it was in this room that different foodstuffs were salted and dried to preserve them, this being the only method of preservation at that time. The ‘salting-room’ was also a room in which to keep the harvested grain.
The El Saladero apartment comprises a lounge-diner with American kitchen, all utensils supplied, a bedroom with double bed, linen supplied, and a fitted wardrobe.
There is an outside terrace with incredible views towards Mondron and Periana; we can see Canillas de Aceituna, Lake Viñuela and just opposite we have the impressive mountain ‘Cerro Alcolea’ or ‘Cerro de los Pernales’ (flint), which has great historical and archaeological significance for Periana.
